About Me

Hi!  Welcome to Hope Is the Word, my blog in which I review the books I read, as well as record as thoughts on home education, parenting, and living a bookish life.  My name is Amy, and I am married to Steady Eddie.  We have two girls:  Lulu, born 5/04, and Louise, born 11/05.  We are expecting a baby boy in late spring 2010.  I am a teacher and librarian turned stay-at-home, home-educating mother.  You may contact me by leaving a comment on my blog or by emailing me at hopeistheword (at) gmail (dot) com.

Hope Is the Word is the home of Read Aloud Thursday, which is a weekly meme in which bloggers share their families’ read-alouds of the week.  I also host the Big Book Push, an effort to get to those books on this year’s TBR list before the year is over.  The Big Book Push will be back in October 2010.  I’d love for you to join us some time!

Welcome!

  4. Hi Amy,

Just found your blog – it’s beautiful! Undoubtedly you could educate ME about homeschooling!

  5. Do you focus on YA lit or just any books you read? I have started a blog focused on YA lit. I try to look at if the books could be used/should be used in a classroom, if so what levels- and keep them categorized by topics as a resource for teachers. Feel free to check it out and give me any pointers. It looks like your reviews are extremely thorough!
