First Family Memorization Challenge–Psalm Chapter 1

Thanks to their nana, both of my girls already know several Bible verses.  Lulu started learning them when she was old enough to really talk, and Louise did, too.  Steady Eddie and I talked some time last year (really?  Was it last year?) that we would like to work on scripture memorization together, but like so many of our plans, we never carried it through.  Since it is a new year, we think it is a great time to begin this.  Our first assignment is Psalm chapter one.  I learned it in the King James Version when I was a child in Christian school.  However, we have chosen this time to learn it in the NIV because that is the version that we use for our Bible quiz team at church.  Steady Eddie already has in mind to groom our girls to be team members!  : )  Even though the girls do not fully understand what the words mean, I do belive that even just hearing God’s Word is beneficial to us.  Here is our chapter:

1.  Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers.  2.  But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night.  3.  He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither.  Whatever he does prospers.  4.  Not so the wicked!  They are like chaff that the wind blows away.  5.  Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.  6.  For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.                   Psalm 1 NIV

What are you doing to hide God’s word in your heart?
