Keep my commandments and live, and keep my law and teaching as the apple (the pupil) of your eye. Proverbs 7:2 Amplified
Last week, I went to the optometrist for a check-up. As a part of the routine eye-exam, she dilated my pupils so that she could look inside my eyes. One of the side effects of having wide-open eyes is extreme sensitivity to light because the pupils are the portal through which light enters the eye. When I read today’s scripture, I thought about how it is God’s Word that enables us to rightly see every situation. If we keep God’s commandments as the apple (pupil) of our eye, they will be the avenue through which everything else enters our life; in other words, they will judge for us everything else we come into contact with. Reading today’s scripture brought another scripture to mind:
The entrance and unfolding of Your words give light; their unfolding gives understanding (discernment and comprehension) to the simple. Psalm 119:130 Amplified
Lord, please enable me to judge everything by Your word. May it be the standard by which I view everything else. Amen.

This is the first week since the week before Christmas that our schedule will be almost normal. While I really love vacation time, I also look forward to getting back on a schedule. I missed menu planning last week because I knew the week would be somewhat unpredictable. I really missed it, though, so I’m glad to be back this week! Here’s what’s cooking at our house:
